It is really interesting to be home. There are so many differences in Kate from when we left way back at the end of January. She is doing new things everyday and Matt and I just look at each other in amazement. Now don't get me wrong, there are still some things that are challenging for her and for us. But, for the most part it is really awesome to see how much she has grown in the last 7 months.
Here are some highlights that she won't mind me sharing. She is kind of sensitive with people knowing all the things she does for herself now :)
She is cracking jokes like crazy. And they are really funny!!
She is helping clean up more and taking care of her own things better. She puts up a fuss, but then she does what I asked. A true miracle.
She shook someones hand with her right hand for the first time. Usually she would offer her left hand to shake or say that she doesn't really shake hands. It's not like this was one of my goals or anything, but it is cool to see her aware of how to do it.
She was looking at a picture of a baby and was saying how cute he was. Before BB she didn't really like babies and they were anything but cute.
She likes big dogs. Before she only liked poodles and little dogs like that. She has been feeding our neighbors dogs and really seems to love it. But, NO!! We are not getting a dog.
The other day our neighbor was taking her dogs for a walk and I jokingly said to Kate that she should go. Well, Kate ran to catch up to her and proceeded to go on the walk! They were gone for over 30 minutes. It was awesome!!
And I have to say that she throws less fits and they are much much much shorter in duration and intensity than before BB. Phew. She still is strong willed and still gets "pissed off" as she calls it, but it is nowhere near what was happening before. I am thankful everyday for this alone!
Well, that's all I can think of right now. There are so many more things, but I will have to write them down when they happen to remember them all.
